They were saving bro.. the defending link will come in on the ataking middle and defending the winger will come in on the attacing link.. giving him no option but to chuck a long ball.

passing to ur team mate with an opposition right in front of him encourages tht opposition to scramble up EAGERLY to make the touch,to which he does make the touch BUT having scrambled up so quickly it makes it slightly harder for him to get back onside,which may just create that bit of opportunity.however contrast this to situation where the opposition creeps up slowly to make the touch;he wld b ready to get back onside quickly once he makes the touch.i think.
