There are deep scallops and shallow scallops, too, so it depends which you have. I've played the Yngwie Strat and I LOVE the feel, for any style. I think if the feel of a scalloped fretboard suits you - and your particular touch - well, you could play any genre of music with it.
SRV used very large frets which does bring the neck a little closer to that "elevated" feel that a scalloped neck has. And the point about a graduated scallop is a good one.

Yeah, like I said, eye of the beholder.  To say Yngwie doesn't show his love for the guitar is, quite simply, erroneous. You either see it or you don't, but it certainly doesn't mean it's not there.

Bullseye! My guitar is like,the most important thing in the world for me,and when players like Yngwie,Steve Vai,Dave Gilmour and so,do a great job as they do,can be quite bone chilling *-*
