I don't think of myself as a virus, nor do I think of you, my family, or my closest friends as one. I just think the way humans evolve and adapt the environment to them, instead of adapting to it, virus like. I dont mean to argue with you, because you do bring up very good points. I'm as happy as I could be being alive. And I agree, we should praise the accomplishments of people that make us proud to be us, I'm not arguing that. I'm just observing at what cost do those accomplishments come with?
Organism? Let me change one word. Then add to you're point. Do you have any idea what the odds are that a virus would evolve in such a way, to be able to comprehend the universe the way we do? To create languages, to create cultures, systems of trade, systems of currency and false numbers that put the people with the higher numbers (money) above the technically and biologically equal people? Proud? Math may be as good as you say it is in theory, but in humanity's use? Proud? Not what so ever.
yeah, humans are terrible. That whole schtick gets boring by the time you hit the tail end of your teens. News flash: it's easy to find reasons to hate our species, but there's simply no reason to dwell on it; the world is a tough enough place as it is. It's more beneficial to praise the accomplishments and people that make us proud to be alive. You aren't a virus, don't think of yourself as one.
Essentially something is nothing to us, if not discovered and labeled yet. And that's how math works. Its a system of panic that we fall back on to try to figure things out. Anything unexplainable scares the human mind. Black holes, a ghost in the computer, the human brain, the after life. But if we can put it in neat packages, call it 2+2 or 6453 x 18, then we are somehow more comfortable living with it. Math is the obsessive controlling part of the human brain trying to rationalize everything.
