I went to see Stanley Clarke at The Laurie Auditorium in San Antonio and there was this completely unknown band opening for him called the Dixie Dregs. I couldn't wait to see some bunch of bozos called Dixie Dregs who must have some gall to think they were good enough to be on stage with a jazz/fusion great. WOW! Was I ever blown away!

Chromatype, listen to McLaughlin play Indian-jazz fusion on Shakti's Handful Of Beauty CD, with a guitar desinged to enable him to imitate the microtones used in Indian classical music. The improvs that defy belief. He's never recorded country music but there are styles Morse hasn't tried either. Doesn't make either better than the other. I think McLaughlin more creatvie when it comes to improvising, though.

I was in a progressive jazz band that opened the show for the Dregs in the 1970s. No artist enjoys being blown off the stage by another band, but I am grateful for the opportunity to rub elbows with such extraordinary talent.

Loving the 'cranked' version of the main theme just before the drum solo. Then again, loving the whole thing really!
