Incase any of you were wondering "thick as a brick" is a vernacular expression that is common in england and means the american equivalent of "full of shit". This would indeed make sense considering Ian Anderson wrote this basically as joke trying to put down anything that was main stream. He did not intend for this to have a deep meaning. In the interview on the cd he does mention that he spent more time on the sleeve then the music. Regardless we are all here to enjoy it. Why argue?

Lengsel7 is right. "Thick As A Brick" is an expression. It means "dumb".
