Every nation on earth has leaders/politicians they're not proud of. My German cousins tell me they see Hitler as nothing short of an evil embarrassment in German history.

You are right that the people in itself are not guilty. But there is no way to forget that the german and austrian people were brainwashed in such a way that they almost ADORED Hitler and agreed with his crazy ideas of jewish peopel being the reason of so many bad things in their era.
