True..but so often one or the other would chip in to add something that would enhance the song..the 'woke up, fell out of bed..' middle eight from Paul in 'A DAY IN THE LIFE',,brilliant in what is essentially a Lennon song.

m y 14 yr old son is playing the drums in a young contemporary - musician of the year competition today-there are a lot of fills in this song-not an easy song to play if a drummer i reckon
