For those who have only heard this version of the song via the film "The Lovely Bones", it was written by Tim Buckley (father of Jeff Buckley) in the mid 1960's. But don't worry - this is still the best version!

I was born lucky ! I'm Scottish and I heard Liz Fraser with TCT and TMC and later solo. Sadly she is happily married now and only her family hear her voice. LIz could sing a recipe and it would break your heart in two. When i jump the bank and shoal of time; this will be playing.

"Jump the bank and Shoal of time...." Lovely.

I am American....interested in learning Gaelic....but......I doubt I will achieve it...no matter how hard I try.

But that phrase....Jumping the bank....I don't know if it's Gaelic or not.....but it pulls me and renews my efforts to learn Gaelic.....I am an American....and when I see my homeland...it pulls me as if I were the moon.

@chubbylegend Always said I would have them play Cico Buff at my funeral. I have listened to it since 1988. I listened to Song to the siren even before that but back then didn't know it was the same person.
