Jazz music was not overlooked by Vee Jay Records, known for recording R&B groups. This 1961 album by Chicago jazz saxophonist Eddie Harris (10/20/34-11/5/96) was a jazz version of a movie theme of the same title directed by Otto Preminger and based on the Biblical story about the Children of Israel. Eddie Harris went on to record with other labels after leaving Vee Jay Records. The personnel that played on this track were: Eddie Harris-tenor saxophone, Joseph Diorio-guitar, William Yancy-bass, Willie Pickens-piano and Harold Jones-drums. The album "Exdus To Jazz" was originally on Vee Jay SR-3016.
