This is THE Flag Dress - all others are pale imitations! This dress was designed by Dame Edna's dressmakers St John Roper - thanks to Barry Humphries mediation. Sadly the old VHS tape was badly stretched and the orchestral sound is terrible.

Excellent rendition of
Rule, Britannia!
Mind the comma and the exclamation mark, please.
Also, too bad the audio quality is so poor.

Yes indeed, it's a shame about the sound quality but the VHS tape had almost disintegrated by the time it came my way so I feel lucky to have been able to get anything at all.
By the way there's no , and no ! in my score..... but that's no excuse!

Brilliant and what an unveiling at the end of the first rendition - cheers for posting. To get a few more hits may be worth changing the title. Cheers for uploading though - superb.

Give it the fyull title - "Rule Brittania - Last Night of the Proms 1985" that way you'll catch folk who check on all parts of the title. Excellent to see this excert - a superb rendition of the song ... well done for uploading it Sir!!

It is very interesting to see that the orchestra is here wearing white tie, where as in later years the orchestra has been wearing black tie (as the conductor is doing here, along with the choir). What the conductor has been wearing in later years seems to depend on the conductors personal tastes... It appears that the entire event of the Last night has been losing in formality. I consider this a loss, because I find this beautiful music worthy of formality, of formal evening wear.
