(LYRICS, TRANSLATION & VIDEO) Shah Hussain - a great Sufi poet of Punjabi, through this subtle poetry, describes the feelings of a daughter, who has lost her husband/ love, and telling her mother the pain of separation, as only her mother can feel a similar pain being separated from her daughter. Thanks @damankamal

Through this Video, I have tried to depict the feelings of a broken down and destitute daughter.

Hamid Ali Bela has portrayed these heart wrenching feelings in his melancholy voice.

I have created video for this immortal folk song on Hema Malini ( as Mother) and Dimple Kapadia ( as Daughter). I hope you will like it.

LYRICS WITH POSSIBLE TRANSLATION ARE:

Mai ni maiN kinu aakhaaN...
(O, my mother! who should I tell ...

Dard vichhoray da haal ni !
the feelings of my pangs of separation?)

DhuaN dhukhay merey murshad wala...
(I thought that my inside is only smoking ...

JaaN pholaN taaN laal ni
but, when I explore, it is red-hot !)

Jungle belle phiraaN dhondendi ...
(I have been searching in the forest...

Ajay na payo lal ni !
Until now ; I could not find my ruby (Love)

DukhaaN di roti, solaN da salan....
(My bread is my torments, my stew is thorns ...

AaheiN da balan baal ni
I cook it on the fire my moans!)

Kahay hussain faqeer nimana
The Poor beggar- Hussain, says

Shoh miley taaN thewaaN nihal ni
That if I find my desire, I will be prosperous !)

Mai ni maiN kinu aakhaaN
Dard vichhoray da haal ni

MUKHTAR

Shah Hussain (1538-1599) was a great Punjabi Sufi poet. He was born in Lahore (Pakistan). His tomb and shrine lies in Baghbanpura, adjacent to the Shalimar Gardens. His urs (annual death anniversary) is celebrated at his shrine every year. It is known as "Mela Chiraghan" ("Festival of Lights") and is the second largest festival in Lahore after Basant. It used to be the biggest festival of the Punjab. Shah Hussain's love for a Brahmin boy called "Madho" or "Madho Lal" is famous, and they are often referred to as a single person with the composite name of Madhu Lal Shah Hussain.
