Agree to disagree then, I suppose. I dunno, I still consider the fact that he routinely keeps the other writers' names on script credits even if he heavily doctors it a show of respect (M. Weiner and others only do so if the script is less than 30% theirs, if I correctly recall the discussion he had with Milch and Gilligan), and I referred to the internship 'of a lifetime,' not 'for life.' But again, fair enough.

I don't disregard, I disagree.. there is a difference. I listened to ten minutes of his opinions and don't like how he puts himself above other writers, pretending he is one of the only ones out there who are still in it for the story and not the "commerce". I enjoy his writing, don't care for the man. I believe in first impressions enough to not waste my time on someone I don't care for. "Internship for life"? Many actors call him an asshole. Get over it.

Sure, just disregard his many moments of self-criticism, not to mention the exploration of self-esteem problems in this very video. Or the fact that he created a wonderful show recently with 'Luck,' sadly cancelled due to tragic, unexpected circumstances. I guess the 'bottom feeding artists' that he always keeps near him during writing (internship of a lifetime) don't matter to him one bit. At least listen to the rest of the discussion.

Deadwood was an excellent show. Surprised to see that this arrogant jerkoff was one of the main architects. Kind of makes more sense to me now that they canceled the show early and he hasn't had any impact since. Love how he puts himself above all these bottom feeding artists who would dare to practice their art for something as trivial as.. money. Because you only write scripts for the sake of art right David? This guys whole attitude and body language emits self righteousness. What a prick.

Perhaps it's because of the overpraise that The Sopranos tends to get from the pop culture mainstream. Sopranos had a slick surface to it, but when you looked closer, there were alot of cracks to that began to show up as the seasons went on. Unevenness in quality, not the least of which was Chase's tendency to drop certain storylines midstream. The quality of acting had its disparities as well. Deadwood, Wire -- up and down had a stellar cast. Sopranos not so much.

He's a million times the storyteller that David Chase is. God, I wish HBO gave Deadwood the chance that they gave the Sopranos. I guarantee that if Milch was given the chance that Chase was he would have given Deadwood a much better sendoff than the Sopranos.
