skins may depict young people as promiscuous, drug-fuelled wreck heads, but i dont remember, in the first couple of series at least, any of that making the characters particularly happy. people like the skins cast, although its exaggerated, definetly do exist, and the program showed that they have as many problems as nerds or misfits. the last couple of seasons WERE awful exploitative trash though.

I agree with Stewart Lee's critisms of Skins, I find all the characters incredibly irritating. On the other hand, I love the Inbetweeners as, although it is about young people, it portrays them as losers just like any other great British sitcom.

...any of us. It's only a bit of filler between the point of birth and death. There is more evil worthy of ranting about. And another thing, at least Skins has more balls than say... Hollyoaks, which is an example of the very evil I am talking about.

...and I speak as a young person who hates people, loathes parties and who couldn't wait to not be a teenager anymore. And make no mistake, I DESPISE with all my heart, seeing rows of college kids at a bus stop who look like they're on the production line at a skins merch factory. These kids who watch the show and then think that's how they should be living. Anyone who do drugs like they do doesn't want to live! Let's not take it seriously...

...but after this they had no where left to go really but were aking in too much money to stop. So they created cheap composit clone characters based off the most successful elements of the origional cast to fill up the new cast, tried far too hard to go one further with the whole 'edge' thing and in a desperate attempt to be different from the first 2 series' included surreal plot points like the last episode of series 3 with some kind of endurance contest involving carrying grannies...

About the skins stuff; when it first came out I admit I enjoyed it as a bit of fun; it does what all teen dramas are supposed to do; dramatise current teen issues which usually revolve around the limited subject matter of sex, growing up and fitting in. It doesn't do anything more original or much better than any other teen drama that has ever been, it merely amped up the 'edge' to appeal to todays teens, who are the most informed and desensitised generation yet. The first 2 seasons were fine...

i can only speak for myself and say i hate skins with a passion.the main characters are annoying little retards who are so egotistical i want to kill them. i think it was made by people who have an idealised view of teenage life. girls were never sexually confident and i none of friends smoked dope.
who ever played tony is the first person on my list to be kidnapped and tortured and then fed to some hungry pigs while his close family watch,after he has been anally violated by a large black man!
