Any body in De Valera shoes would of opted for neutrality. People have to bare in mind that Eires Sovereignty is newly found and just. Suppose Ireland did join the war? resulting in human deaths and debt that would send us back to the stone age. In the end, Britain was left with footing the bill after the war to the federal reserve. Economically sound out look me thinks
