It's not so much clever as just a developed meme..... they probably started by accidentally dropping them on streets and seeing them crack..... then one time a car came so they had to move and when they came back the nut was cracked..... and another time they did it near the white stripes and it worked really well.... and so on. Small increments in adaptive behavior. Then taught to others as memes. I'm not knocking the crow.... they're awesome animals!!!!!
