we are just another animal with a complex brain... there really is no difference between us and the rest of this planet... including animals, plants, insects, fish, algae, moss, fungus, etc etc etc. The only provable difference is that we have more complex brains. We should not assume that if souls exist, humans are the only ones who have them.If souls exist, i think everything alive must have one, cause all life is the same at the most basic level. Why do we play favorites?
since humans are in fact animals, the question can be transformed into: do souls exist? humans feel "special" and "superior" to other animals because they are more intelligent/advanced. but that's it. we just happen to be more intelligent, so if we had a soul, other animals would too.
Souls are a concept invented by humans because they are afraid of death. so they came up with something that made them confortable: death is not the end because we have a soul that lives on after our body has died
* There's no evidence that animals have souls (whatever that word even means). Likewise there's no evidence that humans have souls.
FWIW, I would expect an all or nothing proposition. The idea that only human animals have souls seems more absurd than all animals having souls (which seems even less likely than souls being a self-comforting delusion).
But if animals lack souls, wouldn't that mean we should treat them even better since they get no reboot or 2nd lives?
I'm not entirely sure because sometimes, I don't know if humans have souls. There are abstract feelings you can't always pin with your finger, so when you feel that from an animal in which the relationship is not governed by rules or vocabulary, it's definitely something special. I believe everything is born innately good, but some things have more of a soul than others. I think a measure of a soul is something you have to earn throughout your life.

such as Revelation 5:8-13 .
They not only have souls , but they know that Christ is their savior.
Those are some words of comfort for fellow Christians.
-humans are NOT animals
-humans have souls

It's just not possible for her to not have a soul.
