I can't believe I just saw what I just saw. It's too bad that only the outtakes are left. Every time I saw Count Floyd on SCTV or on the Ed Grimly cartoons,I thought of Gravesend Manor. Thanks for posting. mb
Thanks for the wonderful post!! I never missed this on WOI when I was a youngster growing up in Redfield, Iowa. Such great memories from a happier time.
Two guys on Graves voiced puppets on House. Red Varnum who played "The Duke" (and husband to Betty Lou Varnum the host of House)voiced a puppet. My dad (Fred Kalamaja) played Boris Cut Your Headoffski the Polish executioner. He was the voice of Noel the Christmas Elf and Tumbleweed on House. He was also Mr. Fred the guy that drew pictures on the Friday shows. He passed away 10 years ago and it's so great for me and my family to run across stuff like this. Thanks everyone!
I remember my oldest brother telling me one of these guys on Gravesend Manor was also a voice for one of the puppets on House with the Magic Window. As a young kid and a fan of Magic Window, that somehow really freaked me out.
Oh, this is just PRICELESS!!! It brings back old memories of watching the show on Saturday nights when Mom and Dad were bowling. The babysitter would always let me stay up late! I think it came on right after Have Gun, Will Travel; so 11 pm! Those were great times and the Mummy movie scared me to death!!
I grew up with this program in Eagle Grove. Graves end Manor always had the good spook shows on, and i enjoyed watching Claude and Malcomb. Its to bad someone doesn't continue this tradition even though its corny. I thank you for posting that piece of nostalgia.
Thanks so much for posting this incredibly rare video. I vaguely recall watching these guys on WOI-TV out of Ames as a child in Eagle Grove. Popcorn, Coca-Cola, a blanket and the Gravesend Manor gang made my Saturday nights complete. They were worth struggling to stay awake for - even if the movies were a bit lame. Anyone remember the later version with "Boris-Cut Your Head Off"? Great stuff!
