Vocabularies of all Madarin dialects are similar to Standard Mandarin, especially the core one. But the other non Mandarin dialects are different, such as Yue, Minnan and Wu.
我觉得西南官话总体上比胶辽和西北方言接近普通话。
They are all regional vocabularies, and no wonder many people don't understand.
I think Southwest Mandarin is more closer to Standard Mandarin than Jiaoliao Mandarin and Northwest Mandarin.
