After one whole quart of brandy Like a daisy, I'm awake With no Bromo-Seltzer handy I don't even shake Men are not a new sensation I've done pretty well I think But this half-pint imitation Put me...

In the play, the character is anything but impotent--he's a womanizer and a louse. The singer of this song, a jaded older woman, knows all that ("he's a fool and don't I know it") but can't help herself falling in love with him--and eventually, falling out of love with him. Impeccable version from a true legend.

I'm 18 years old now, but I loved Jazz since a pretty young age.

Although I think people say I'm weird for other reasons lol.

it is *not* weird to appreciate talent!!!

IMHO people who consider most of today's artist's music as singing are the ones who are wierd. I mean come on! Rapping is basically fast rhyming/ talking.

This isn't "close to flawless"...It IS Flawless!!! It does not get better than this. One of the great female vocal performances of all time...this lady makes the song her own.

Maybe use Doris Day's version. She doesn't go into the part about the guy becoming broke and possibly impotent lol

I am actually listening for the first time to Dame Ella singing this. My Mom use to sing this song so I invariably copied my Mother's style. But, I must say she must have gotten it from Ella. I have a duet on my profile.
Ella was a true Diva!

I just love this song. So smooth, classy and a little mischievous. Lovely!
