But Jack Kirby and Joe Simon created the idea of a Spider-Man in the 50's. So Stan's contribution to the character was from them.

I'm not allowed to reply to comments that are replying to me? It's called a conversation and you can find them everywhere on YouTube. And if you had seen this documentary - you would know that I'm simply talking about a subject that has been explored a lot.

Ditko wouldn't have known of the concept without Lee - but Lee wouldn't have known of the concept without Kirby, Simon and Goodman. That is fact no matter how you want to look at it. Stan Lee is cool but not the creator of Spider-Man.

Because you wont STFU about how you're trying to claim Stan lee did nothing. You sound like a fan boy of Steve Ditko(or just anti Lee) saying he doesn't deserve credit for Spiderman. Its unbelievable. Ditko sounds like he wants all of the credit and 0 going towards Stan Lee when Ditko wouldn't have even known the concept for Spiderman had it not been for Lee coming to him.

But you don't see it that way and ignore it don't you? Of course

They came up with the name Spiderman, his backstory and that he had webshooters (back then they were in a pistol).

Marvin Goodman told Stan Lee to do something with the idea, he came up with the alter ego name Peter Parker and gave the outline to Steve Dikto that did the rest - creating the Spider-Man universe as we still know it today as well as its successful formula.

Stan Lee doesn't deserve to be called creator or co-creator. He simply did his job as an editor in chief.

The Joe Simon/Jack Kirby drawing of the character from the 50's. He didn't look anything like he does now - his current design was all Steve Ditko.

Just the way of the world really.

Think about Star Wars, George Lucas takes all the credit for it.

But if it wasn't for the fantastic concept art work that gave everything the Star Wars feel, if it wasn't for the music composed for the film. The sound effects that were created. And all of the work the producers did to keep everything in line we would have seen a much more mediocre production had it all really been mostly George Lucas.

Exactly what we got with episodes 1, 2, 3 ~ mostly Lucas.
