80 Knots at Punta Delgardo in the Magellan Straights. Basically an open roadstead. Thanks to the Manson Supreme, I did not budge an inch!

Was there any caternary left in your rode or was it bar tight? What scope? How deep was the water?

Thinking back on it I can't really say. I didn't dare go on deck. It wasn't snatching so the long nylon snubber must have been taking all the weight. From memory the water was about 5 meters and I was on sand. I had all 300 plus foot out. She would sail up on the anchor, go broadside and then get lain down. The stresses must have been phenomenal.

I can remember, above all the racket, hearing a couple of clicks on the deck. For the next 1000 mile up to Buenos Aires I thought about those noises trying to work out what they were. I found a screw in the cockpit but didn't connect the two events. I did a rigging check in Buenos Aires and found 4 of the 8 screws that hold the radar to the mast had worked there way out and the others were loose!

I did try this but the boat was sailing on her anchor. It only made this worse. So I just hung.

No, it is a Supreme. What is a sarca? It might be the same concept. They are basically a spade with a big round bar over the top. I hope to get back to Bathurst Harbour again one day.

Strange that there is no spray. The spray hood is totally dry.

    In 80 knots of wind?

......balls of steel man !! Mother nature is an awesome adversary when roused. Good luck with the sailing, tho' it looks like the boat and equipment, inc' the skipper are up to it.
