It's an actual vending machine it takes coins. Josh Klein talked about it in his TED speech about building this.

I love crows, they are the most intelligent birds. People who hate them must be stupid, they are probably snake or rat lovers

Crows aren't hated by everyone; just some people. All different people have all different reactions to all different things. I for one (thought) I hated crows before (I later found out those birds actually grackles xP). Then, I thought about how unfair & judgmental I was being, gave them a chance, googled crows, and found out how smart they are. I respect grackles, crows, and all birds now, and I LOVE Crows. I also love seagulls, but crows and wolves are my favorite animals x3

Seagulls would have done all that stuff TOO had the lure been booze rather than peanuts! We used to go to a tavern on the water with outdoor seating. There were hundreds of begging seagulls. They loved pizza crusts soaked in beer. You could actually get them drunk! They would always go for the pizza soaked in beer before the plain pizza. I'm sure they were ALL alcoholics within a short time. Crows have more sense...they wouldn't TOUCH the beer-soaked pizza crusts. (They DID covet your jewelry!)
