In the village of Heckington, Lincolnshire, is the UK's only remaining working 8 sail windmill. It is still used today to do its own grinding, and here's a short video of it in action.

Some things, including windmills, are worth that money though. I would much rather my council tax was spent preserving a beautiful windmill, like Greens Mill in Nottingham, which is a working flour mill, than get spent on building yet another smelly fountain/Saturday night urinal.

The problem is the sails always need to be turned into the wind or you could lose the top, which means they need to be constantly manned, which makes them expensive to maintain....

Windmills are some of the UK's hidden treasures, we need a organization like the National Trust to take up a bigger interest in buying them and restoring them, so local communities can use them for purpose and for education.
