Movies don't have to have a moral. Like life sometimes doesn't, too.

I agree with madviolinist10 that it's "just" a good depiction of sad things that can happen to anybody.

And if you really need something to get out from this movie you could think that the family still has the other boy who comforts his dad like his dad did comfort him.

This film is incredibly moving, exploring how the things we may do, while they seem innocent at the time, can take a life away. It's so precious, and so fragile. The pain that the mother goes through is nothing to the pain the father will endure knowing he has taken a life of someone he loved. A fantastic film, with incredibly moving acting.
