I think this is "sick" in a good way, like "wicked" or "Bad"?

    Nicely done.

Actually Gary Hill, video artist, pioneered this technique in 1984 in a video called "Why Do Things Get in a Muddle (Come on Petunia)," a metalogue based upon the writings of Gregory Bateson. David Lynch lifted the technique from Gary Hill in Twin Peaks.

thanks, that's great info. Any idea if it's online? I got the idea form Lynch, I guess even he is allowed to be inspired ;)

This was about vocal technique as much as it was the film effect. I wanted to get it to sound as much as possible like it does forwards. tara

How do you get a Mellotron to play sounds backwards?? .Its a mode of operation I haven't heard much of..apart from a few classic psych songs..Wonderfull instrument when you consider its capabilities and the fact it was originally designed in the late 1940's..

1 thing I always thought would probably sounds cool, but I'm too lazy to actually try it is: Record your/a voice saying or singing, something, a phrase, whatever, it doesn't matter. Play it back, backwards/in reverse, listen, & try copy the backward voice, with your voice. Example "Help me" = "em pleH". So, say/sing the backward phrasae, record it, and then finally, play itback, but also backwards! I bet it would sound freak'n weird/cool. It would sound like the original words, but weird.

i for one think its impressive. the backwards adds a lil creepy sound to it though. And morrisoneill, this is an amazing song, which has several different versions, and it will never be dead beat. EVER
