If your tech, is shoddy skating on classic roller skis is very dangerious. Kind of like catching a tip. If you have good form it is no problem.

this is classic roller skis. skate skis have bigger weels and are much faster. you can skate on both

Well it WAS a detour, meaning they had a choice whether they wanted to go roller skiing or the alternative.
