SRV's RESPECT, passion, honesty and pure "open channel" style for the blues is something revered by anyone who knows anything about music - and anyone saying anything else can go fuck a brown dog.

Every now and then a phenomenon comes along. And he was one of those. Ask Buddy Guy, ask EC, ask all those dead black guys who Stevie held in such high regard.

Long live SRV - The absolute Master of the Stratocaster.

I say! As if you have any respect for musicians, lol...you are no better than any of those "fools on youtube" but simply one of them

And yes Hendrix is great, but to say hes the only guitar player to create so many "historical memorable and original tunes" is also nothing more then a short sighted opinion.

I think you've taken my statement the wrong way. I was merely responding to dipshit #1 who formed his opinion on Frank based on the two songs he heard. And though you're quick to disagree, I'd love for you to show me another contemporary composer with as much original material as Frank. And just because you've decided that his music isn't memorable doesn't make it true. Its all in the eyes of the beholder my friend (but i would seriously advise you to take a second listen).

first off, Hendrix was a god on the guitar. there is no denying this. any1 that can make Clapton walk off stage deserves no less recognition. secondly, SRV's technical skill is very far from unparalleled. Many guitarists today will (technically speaking) blow both Hendrix and Stevie out of the water. that is why I believe there is no best guitarist. thirdly, without Hendrix we would now be arriving at the EVH era and SRV would not have existed because Hendrix was a monstrous influence on him.

Hendrix was very far from being a god on guitar or on anything else; he was a human in every respect and a quite flawed one... like all of us; and SRV would be SRV with or without him because he had all his blues influences and grew up on them- first and foremost. He wanted and played the blues. The rest is talent, commitment and a bit of luck
