my dad is the supervisor for one of the HTT grinders, and the rails are not that hot after they are ground since they are sprayed to make sure there are no fires near by. but then again if u want to see a fire the the pandrol jackson was one that would throw some sparks quite a ways.

Question? What would happen if you went down to the tracks and touched them right after that rail grinder went by?

I think grinders cool and clean the rail with water after they pass by, so it would probably not be that hot. Just wet, and very uniform and smooth. Also still slightly warm.
(Not trying to sound gay, I'm not a cubs fan)

With Harsco Share Price trading at a measly 21 a share...I recommend you BUY heavily...It is a golden opportunity to accumulate at this low level. Come back in 3 -6 months and see where the share price is at...i bet it will easily be 35 or more...Good luck and Go Harsco!

I worked for PJ then Harsco on the RMS 5 in Canada. The front engine was GP-38 The back was a FPH-40,the modifed bodies where made in Pa, The FPH40 had a generator that was use when we were grinding for our house power, and there was a 6cyl Cat in the front power car which was use for house power when parked in the sidings the power cars had 16 cyl cats to run the 30hp grinder motors, and yes we started fires

It is a highly modified F40PH body on a GP38-2 frame
