Michael Holding gets annoyed at Brian Close

Brian Close was my hero, I used to watch him at the Scarborough Cricket Festival around 1965, 1966. I'm watching this clip sitting at home in Hong Kong, but it takes me back 40 years........

Close was 45, 15 years past his best. Not suicidal, just very brave.

And they call this the gentleman's game LOL. This was whispering death at his very best. Look at the pace and control on those pouncers......not one short and wide. How many players in the modern game can do that consistently at such pace. Ppl talk about Brett Lee and Akthar but Holding is undoubtedly the fastest pace bowler the game has ever seen! oh and as for Brian Close......he must have been suicidal hahahaha!

The second ball even had first slip ducking for cover - awesome bowling!

Brian Close was brilliant. Hard as nails and absolutely fearless.

Greig's comment is often taken out of context. He was referring to the well-documented dressing room problems and sulking the Windies had during their tour in Australia the preceding winter where, after winning the first match, they got mullered. Greig said "The West Indies are down, and when they are down, they grovel. We're going to make them grovel."
