Say there was only one Sharlin class and the White Star, so the Earthforce ships felt they could engage them. Even if they won - which they wouldn't - killing Delenn would be a grave mistake. I believe it was said best:

I know that Sheridan and Delenn are good guys and all, but if I were a member of the Earthforce, the fact that B5 is defended by the Minbari would probably push me over to Clark's side.

And, that was precisely how Clarke worked that scam.

Why not. Only one human captain has ever survived battle with a Minbari fleet. Hes behind me. U are infront of me. If u value ur lifes be some where else!!!
