so tasteful and wonderful tone. how much do I have to spend? I see these relic teles with upgraded electronics...I put seymour 54's on my MIM strat and it totally changed it...I want a sound like that without spending 3-15K.

In this case, the amp is really responsible for most of that tone. It's a tweed 1x12 Deluxe built by Bill's son Clay. I ordered one the same day this was shot. There's a clip of me demo'ing my amp, and one of Arlen Roth using it as well.

I hate to say this, but the most important part to get this great tone is not the amp, the guitar, or the effects pedals (as long as your equipment is halfway decent: a good telecaster, a classic tube amp with lots of clean headroom, a compressor and a delay). I spent years obsessed with the perfect equipment, until I gradually discovered that your fingers and your guitar playing skills is what really makes a world of difference when it comes to the way you sound.
