On December 29, 2008, Hubbard's hometown newspaper, The Indianapolis Star reported that Hubbard died from complications from a heart attack suffered on November 26 of the same year.[13] Billboard magazine reported that Hubbard died in Sherman Oaks, California.

Jazz purists labelled this record to be pretty bad. Let's all go out and bash their heads. Everyone let's join on in....

A lot of jazz purists seem to be so wrapped up in formless noodling that they forget the simple joy of a really good, funky, nasty groove.

Their loss, OUR GAIN.

Too bad their pretension forbade them to enjoy other areas of the musical spectrum. I know a classical pianist who's the same way. Anything else is just slop to her. Then again, she can rip as long as it's on the page in front of her, but couldn't improv a solo over a 1,4,5 progression if you held a gun to her head.
