I do not think that it is alive per se... in resturants and vice versa they normally cut off the beak and the internal organs. the body remains active for a few minutes after death if you do that....
first of all, if chephalopods are so intelligent why do they live in igloos? who the F cares, pigs are intelligent, and they're also delicious. plus the octopus isn't alive. they remove the beak and guts so they're already dead. its just that their neural system is still active for a few minutes after they have died (headless chicken style). plus they're being eaten like they get eaten by dolphins so what the hell is your point? Unless dolphins cook their octopus which would be news to me.
i believe they remove the guts and beak before they serve you. they're not really 'alive' per se. their neural structure is still active after they're dead so they move around for few minutes.
