I am about to do my DAS, so forgive my lack of experience... at the final T-junction, the rider pulled away with their right foot down and therefore not under control i.e. relying on throttle/clutch control only. Is this good practise?

advancedbiker: appreciate the effort to bring your experience in these vids to the masses. Needless to say, in my latest DAS lesson the instructor asked me not to position for bends as the DSA don't appreciate it in a DAS test.

Cheers

Hello Al
1. There is no golden rule when it comes to putting your foot down. Left or right doesn't matter, it all depends on the circumstances.
2. The DSA DAS test......Don't get me started. All I can say is do everything your instructor tells you, ignore my vids, pass the test and then.......Start riding properly. The DSA like the command line when positioning for bends which sometime means middle of the lane, am I right ?

Yup...you aare correct. The only dispensation is that they allow slightly left or right of centre. Thanks for the advice - exactly what my instructor said.

Just a point though...the rider did not cover/use his rear brake when making the turn out of the junction. Isn't that potentially out of control riding?

Cheers Al

Hello Davy,
The DSA haven given us no guidelines as to what is required for a rider to obtain a certificate. There is alot of paperwork to fill in, initila assessment etc..... On my check test, I was tested on my ability to teach, not on the standard required. I look at is as a very open standard, which is not ADVANCED. My benchmark is, if you are safe, ride within the speed limits, show you have an ability to assess hazards and respond to them, you will gain a certificate. At the end..

Thanks,

I will letthe rider know. He earned his DSA Enhanced Rider Bonus Certificate, he was safe, rode within the speed limit and was aware of the hazards around him. Remember this is not supposed to be Advanced
