As much as I grew up on Sergio Mendes and these songs, I had no idea until very recently who the original composer-performer was. Having met Sergio a couple of times, I would have asked him a most personal question: Has he E-VA-H in his early years of fame paid homage, and in fact feted and celebrated Jorge Ben Jor's work for which he became famous in the US??? One thing you can say about English(US\UK)music: Almost all artists paid homage to the original performer-songwriters!!!

as a fist generation brazilian american that now only speaks english, not by choice mind you , this song makes my mind swell with the memories of brasilian beat and harmony form when iwas a 5 years old. or maybe younger younger. surreal. truly a classic done by a master of creating music

So I suggest you to learn portuguese, it's a beautifull language and foreign languages always open doors for better carriers.
