In the dedication to my book on terminal illness I wrote, "I lay dreaming that I was near an outdoor marketplace, watching a group of musicians set up to play. One by one they began to tune, softly. Then in a soft clear voice a woman sang the words, 'who knows ... where the time goes ...' and at that moment I awoke and said, 'to Leslie.' A true vision. This book is dedicated with love to my wife, Leslie."

The singer was Sandy Denny, of course.

I remember on the sleeve notes of History of Fairport Convention, sound engineer John Wood wrote :
You could have assembled the finest session musicians in the world to play on this, and they couldn't have come up with anything better than this performance from Sandy, Richard, Simon, Ashley and Martin Lamble, who so tragically died, aged just 19, in that horrific M1 accident, which almost destroyed the whole band.
