Haha, whoa man. Don't slam on the Beatles. I do agree the Beach Boys are underrated though :)

I think I have an older version of this song, because the Beach Boys did do it.

WHAAAAAAAAAT???

REALLY???????????????

never heard of it, or do you mean that one that's quite simply called the greatest single in rock history, one of the best songs of all time, a teenage symphony to god?

EVERYBODY heard the original before this one, because the original is part of pop culture and social consiousness, it's like knowing hound dog by elvis or yellow submarine by the beatles.

Brian Wilson has more talent that all of the Beatles combined. Personally, I think the Beatles are a little overrated and the Beach Boys are entirely underrated

1) You misunderstand the meaning of the word. No art piece can be seen outside a context; it's the first thing you learn in art history; you can't possibly judge a piece by Mussorgsky in today's context and compare it, say, to a rap song.
2) I took 4 courses of art history, I don't need to prove what I saw for myself. I can get you in contact with my former art history teacher and a few art historians, if you want. You may argue with them, but I promise you, you'll be the one in murky waters.

I insist:many art pieces were 'made &considered' outside hist. context w/ pretty good results. If u had such 'dogmatic' teachers that's ur business.Luckily, not all art and aesthetics theorists are history-oriented: see B. Croce and his reflexion on the purity of art values, or E. Hanslick on the scientific-positive view of musical works.
(ps-that doesnt mean that historical contextualization of art is useless, im just saying it's by no means 'necessary' or 'essential' -like u seemed to claim)
