What's really sick is the mind set of some of the comments, always thinking in a destructive, violent war mentality. This could be used in a more constructive & economically useful manner. It could replace the horse & donkey on terrains where vehicles cannot go, or for terrestrial applications in space expeditions.
I wouldn't know what to think if one of those things suddenly popped out of the forest like that and came towards me. That's kind of scary.
In the near future, they'll mount mini-guns on these dog robots.
Soon enough, Skynet will take over then we all know what's going to happen. You think running zombies are bad? Wait till you get a few hundred T-800's mounted on these dog/horse robots chasing people around.
this is where investment runs. soon (in terms of universe years), high chance we may have inter planetary wars assuming humans survive till then or something else morphs out of us. dammit, wherz my valium
What about a collision detection program? I helped program a robot for a robocup. We had to make sure it avoided obstacles so we added sensors in the front which we programed to scan the path and when it came to an obstacle it would try to avoid it. As for falling over well gravity stops that from happening as well as pre set commands.
