What about the mouthpiece? Is the mouthpiece of a pic trumpet smaller than the one used on a Bb trumpet?

depends on what kind of shank you are using. Most of the time u have to use a cornet mouthpiece but sometimes u will have horns that accept trumpet mouthpieces. However, you will want almost a LEAD mouthpiece for a piccolo if u are using a trumpet mp.

on a "pic" the 4th valve drops the pitch down one perfect fourth so you can hit as low as a concert b
