Wow. Weird and disturbing and made me want to try this experiment myself. I guess I could; I have a microphone, headphones that also function somewhat as earplugs... it could be done. I wonder if it would have the same effect on me. Seemed to make her feel like she wasn't who she was or what she thought she was. Like a kind of a meditation on self-consciousness.
If you have an old open-reel audio tape recorder, the same effect can be done, provided the recorder has 3 heads. Just record yourself speaking to the tape (preferably at a low speed, i.e. 1 7/8 ips) and if the recorder has a tape monitor feature, there'll be a delay as the tape passes from the record head to the play head. I''ve tried this on an old open reel deck I have, and my results were exactly the same as portrayed in Richard's video. It really messes with your brain.... :)
