Here's the lyrics (feel free to sing along):
Any minute now, my ship is coming in I'll keep checking the horizon I'll stand on the bow, feel the waves come crashing Come crashing down down down, on me
And you say, be still my love Open up your heart Let the light shine in But don't you understand I already have a plan I'm waiting for my real life to begin
When I awoke today, suddenly nothing happened But in my dreams, I slew the dragon And down this beaten path, and up this cobbled lane I'm walking in my old footsteps, once again And you say, just be here now Forget about the past, your mask is wearing thin Let me throw one more dice I know that I can win I'm waiting for my real life to begin
Any minute now, my ship is coming in I'll keep checking the horizon And I'll check my machine, there's sure to be that call It's gonna happen soon, soon, soon It's just that times are lean
And you say, be still my love Open up your heart, let the light shine in Don't you understand I already have a plan I'm waiting for my real life to begin

The great thing about songs like these is that it's not necessarily about a certain situation but just certain emotions you have during your life, and I think this is great for that. Maybe this is about dying, maybe just trying to get your life into order, or maybe it's about a million other things, because it's so applicable. Any way you slice it, though, it's beautiful.
It's about a fool who's waiting for the life his dream life to start. His lover tells him let the real light in, see what's really going on; time he can't get back is wasting while he waits for his fantasy. He can't see that the dream is stealing his life from him. At the end of it, even though he can see a very long way, & his dream isn't in sight, he's still waiting. It's a very sad song about a fool.
Really? ... Well, I guess for a 15 year old Men At Work would seem like ancient history. Have you ever heard Under the Milky Way by The Church, Beds Are Burning by Midnight Oil, or My Happiness by Powderfinger?
No, I don't just listen to Aussie bands. I couldn't remember the name Midnight Oil and looked up Australian bands in wikipedia and was reminded of The Church and Powderfinger.
