I'm a great believer that the parrot should choose its owner. They are very opinionated!

I recall someone wanted me to adopt her white cockatoo. The cockatoo was very friendly to me, and let me massage around his face.

But then the owner started talking about how she was surprised he liked me, because she said he attacks her son, dog, and other people.

I decided not to adopt the cockatoo after hearing that! Because I like a bird that is not going to hurt the human beings around me.

The Congo of my vet's assistant started feather plucking, so she asked me to take care of the bird, but it was still feather plucking, even as I was scratching the back of his head.

The problem is that the Congo had somehow bonded with her daughter or her daughter's dog, because when they left the house, the trouble started.

I suggested that the Congo should be with them. She said her daughter was already hiding the dog at her dorm, but I think the Congo needs her more than the dog IMHO.

Absolutely agree, the bird should take priority in my opinion.

Perhaps you know what you are doing with your Congos. Amazons can put up with a noisy environment, noisy rambunctious children, other birds and pets, and a total absence of routine. Amazons can also tolerate separation from their favourite person without resorting to feather plucking. They can tolerate living outside, if the temperature is above freezing.

I did a LOT of research before deciding on and bringing home my Greys and so far I think I'm getting it about right!

That might be one reason she's so good natured.

She's fine with my boyfriend, who she belongs to, she usually lunges at me in typical Amazon style though! I still love her mind you but I wouldn't want to live with her!

She is lovely! :-)

Panamas have horn-coloured beaks and nails with no dark areas whereas YCs have the darker beak and nails.

This is what we discovered after much research on the 'net anyway after Mark inherited Charlie from his chiropractor of all people!!

For an idea of size, have a look at my 'Mojo and Shinda' playlist. Charlie is a bit bigger than Mojo and a bit smaller than Shinda!
