We've got the Moog Guitar right where we want it: at Summer NAMM 2008 and in our hands. We stopped by the invited Press Briefing at the Moog Booth and tried out the Moog Guitar for ourselves.
Paul Vo -- inventor of the Moog Guitar -- was on hand to talk about the development process, and about how the Moog Guitar builds on previous "sustainer" ideas and turns them into something infinitely more refined. See more on Gearwire.com.

so what? It's a beautiful sound that can now be used in a dynamic way. I want to hear more of this, I wanna see what the greats of today can do with these new tools. Its true that every new musical technology gets used to death - the synthesizers of the eighties is a prime example, but all we need do is ride out the wave of overenthusiastic usage and then the beautiful art will emerge.
I think I'd still go with a fernandes sustainer for much less money and most of the functionality. If you haven't heard one search youtube for "Fernandes Sustainer"
This is a very cool guitar no doubt. If you listen to Robert Fripp recordings back in the early 80's its very similar. Robert Fripp was way ahead of his time. If you like the sounds these ugys are making in this video a great album to check out is 'I Advance Masked' by Andy Summers (The Police) and Robert Fripp.
You can do it with an EBOW. The Ebow Sends electric pulses through the sting to give it infinite sustain. You wouldn't be able to do technical stuff with it because, You have to hold the Ebow. So droning a string with it and, playing a modal melody would be harder. Unless you are great with with legato. Of course that isn't that hard. Changing a center key or bass note would Suck unlessyou are in keyed around C,F,or G. anything with more accidentals would be challenging No Muting FX
