Beautiful! I'm very intrigued by the tuning that's being used starting at the 6:00 minute mark (or close to there).

The opening song sounds like it's from Mansour Seck, who is a close friend of Baaba Maal's. They have been singing together for a very long time. (From a proud Senegalese!)

I know, I think it is Mansour Seck. My parents would know. I don't really listen to his music as much as they do, but he is a great artist.

Truth Speaks! The army of the Moors was primarily Fula, Hausa, and others from Senegambia; as the Murabit (Moor) movement was strong amongst them.

Madam Bugibba was a noble woman who witnessed the Moorish invasion and described them thus "...their forces (the Moors) were as black as ink, and their general (Zayd ibn Tariq) was blacker still."
