Brilliant clip! They certainly were household names and I loved watching scrambling as a small boy in the 60s. Vic Eastwood is still one of my heroes and that was a spectacular fall by him!
What a crackin clip! The riders were all household names in the 60s due to the coverage on Sat afternoons. For some reason they stopped televising it. Scrambling became MotoX ,the bikes became more freakish and less like roadbikes and now it's almost an unknown sport.
Wow! What a super video. I love my Greeves, but isn't it great to see and hear the old four-strokes? I think I was born about five years too late. Thanks for posting this one!!!!
Bengt Aberg still rides modern mx-bikes for fun, test-rode 400 HVA type he won 2 w/champs on (no suspension) "How did we ride these things!!!" But they did, and fast. The old riders, if physically up to it, racing a modern bike, would smoke modern riders. Tough heads, tough bodies. 2x45 min + 2 lap motos on tougher tracks than today, on bikes no modern rider could ride, they were VERY technical riders. Also spannered own bikes, drove van all over Europe, no 'designer' works teams as support.
Great video. Didn't get interested in off-road racing until the mid '70s, so I remember Jeff Smith as an older guy on Can-Ams. It's great to see him here in his prime.
