*spoiler alert* he shot the C-consciousness, the machine responsable for the creation of the zone, inside the machine there were scientists, their minds generated psichokinetic energies, anomalies if you like that made the zone a real hell hole *end spoiler*

When Strelok lied down on the grass, I thought: "That's unsafe, what if a snake or something bites him!"

after all the shit he had to go through the last thing he is going to worry about is a snake biting him

this is the ending when you ignore the task "Find The Wish Granter". You must have a decoder taken from Pripyat hotel to unlock a secret door and enter the secret room. And..you know what to do.. :)
