Well, how about Getter Robo? Just change hotblooded fighting spirit for hotblooded desire to live (the getter beams are basically that)

That said, Kyosuke or Sanger are way cooler than Kamina and Simon together (in my opinion).

Now, THAT's some fighting spirit and crazy skills at piloting a mecha.

In any true SR series, the mechs and the pilots tend to rape logic and physics so many times per chapter that TTGL stop being as silly as peoples thinks it is. And TTGL is as silly at that as people thinks, or worse!

So there, size doesn't matter, what matters is who is the main character of the series. The Super TTGL would be Kabuto's bitch in a Mazinger's anime, but it wouldn't in TTGL.

So... like any other true super robot series? No, seriously, in SR animes, size doesn't matter, what matters is just how hard the main character can shoot while using his attacks, or, in other words, their fighting spirit. I agree that Simon and cia have a great fighting spirit, but they are hardly the ones with the most. Specially when someone like Kouji Kabuto, with an inferior mecha, in a universe where the FS doesn't matter that much, destroyed 5 superior mechs when his Mazinger had one arm.
