They're expressing their liking of anthromorphic animals by dressing as them, theres furries at a comvention called EuroFurance.

the proper term for this game is "skittles", not bowling...
in skittles they use smaller wooden balls, if you listen carefully they make a hollow rattling sound when they hit the pins rather than a solid knock :)
