MR2 guy missed his braking point, wound up late on his turn-in, and left the door opened. Wide opened. Motor racing was historically a gentleman's sport. Not anymore. Would have otherwise been a clean pass by the guy following, in the white Acura. The MR2 guy, wholly in the wrong, for not having yielded the spot, paid the price for being stupid. That is a lot of debris our hero in the STi just went through. Hope he didn't cut down a tyre.

It was a serious race so the marshals were on the scene pretty quickly so I carried on until the race was stopped.

I'm fairly sure the only way that happened was the mr2's wheel/wheels on the driver's side (left side of car) made contact and raised it just enough to pop it up and momentum carried it on over. From what I see - the rear wheel of the mr2 hit the front (turned) wheel of the teg. That's a perfect spot in terms of weight distribution. (right where the middle of the mr2's weight bias is)

That or there's some crazy unlucky debris in the road.

It was still a freaky flip though!

Looks to me like he went up the inside across the curbe, launched the car and that straightlined it into the side of the MR2. Pretty strong move..

i wouldn't call the integras decision to pass stupid but he really wasn't far enough to have the apex

this is much more easily seen in the other video

either way it was a freak accident how it just flipped. what a shame

What happened? Did the integra clip the side of the MR2...

Yep he just clipped him, the only mark on the Integra was a tiny bit of orange paint and a broken indicator housing.

Video was re-uploaded, so here are the previous comments:

gtschris: dixon was not fully along side, watch dixons incar footage. racing incident no 100% blame either way.

TCracing: I disagree, dixon is alongside and has the apex.

EdLeake: You have to say from behind that does like the Dixon (Integra) is at fault - regardless it's just good news no one was hurt. :)
