What a beautiful song and woman!...one of my long lost loves loved this song!!...and I'm 52.

We all can relate to this song. We all felt that we were out of place or trying to fit in. Thought that something was wrong with us at one time or another. At Seventeen by Janis Ian is one of the greatest songs of all time. Thanks Janis. Thanks for the post and the memories.

Im 58. I listen to this song and reflect . I had a fantastic time during my youth. It influenced my relationship with my children who are now 20 and 22. Oh those 1960s and 1970s summers. They were fantastic! The music was............! The crowd was ...............! Now Im overweight, bald and aged. Im taking the dog for a walk in the morning. Might have a spliff on the way round, lungs allowing. Far out man!

I have never thought Janis Ian was anything but weard looking. I have always been attracted to dark, curly haired women with dark eyes. When I was in high school in the late 60's, Janis Ian was my heart throb. I love her talant, her beautiful powerful voice, her intelligence and all the songs she produced. What a talented lady she is. I for the life of me couldn't understand why she didn't think she was anything less than beautiful...

Yeah, the photos of her in the "Between The Lines" album...at 15 years old, I was so smitten...the artistic, moody gurl of my dreams...:-)

I could relate to this song so much when I was I 17!! But boy I made up for it after high school!! And no I didnt become a slut,just turned from the ugly duckling to a swan!!! LOL!

oh, but this is so-o-o-o-o perfect; fantastic singing; marvellous performance and best of all such GREAT and PERCEPTIVE lyrics; great!!!
